SABIC recognizes that we can best succeed by having a culture based on integrity, devoted to quality and innovation, and by maintaining high standards for the environment, health and safety, fair employment and sustainability.

Our commitment to compliance and SABIC’s Integrity Culture goes far beyond simply seeking to prevent the consequences associated with violations, such as penalties and fines. We believe that performing with integrity and integrating a strong company-wide Integrity Culture are the keys to achieving SABIC’s long-term goals.

The backbone of our Integrity Culture is our Code of Ethics. The SABIC Code of Ethics requires responsible business conduct as a key-value, with a high priority placed on corporate integrity. Not only does integrity build a healthy company culture and business environment, but it also attracts investment and thus cultivates economic growth and international trade. The policies of our Code of Ethics reflect our commitment to integrity and corporate citizenship, including our commitment to Responsible Care®, the United Nations Global Compact, and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.

We are all responsible for abiding by the Code of Ethics and understanding the compliance risks that impact our jobs. All employees acknowledge their understanding of the Code of Ethics annually and complete assigned training on the policies contained in the Code of Ethics. We all have a responsibility to raise integrity concerns or violations promptly. Failure to do so can have significant adverse consequences for our company, employees and the communities where we operate. Every employee is empowered to raise their concerns through a variety of reporting channels that are available across the company. We strictly prohibit retaliation of any kind against anyone for raising or helping to address integrity concerns.

As a member of the UN Global Compact, SABIC adheres, fully endorses and supports the principles that promote awareness and respect of human rights. Our Integrity Culture earns SABIC recognition globally. In 2019, we received “Compliance Leader Verification” from the Ethisphere Institute, the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices and the provider of independent verification of corporate ethics and compliance programs. Compliance Leader Verification is awarded exclusively to companies with best-in-industry compliance programs that have decided to proactively invest resources in compliance, sending a clear signal to key stakeholders that their company takes compliance and ethics seriously.

Also in 2019, SABIC was ranked in the 99th percentile for our industry by EcoVadis, a provider of business sustainability ratings, intelligence and collaborative performance improvement tools for global supply chains. SABIC’s 99th percentile score was based on an assessment of our policies and procedures around four categories – environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The EcoVadis sustainability assessment is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of Sustainability/CSR into their business and management system.
